Our Facebook page (click here) is receiving lots of visitors and we have more than 50 “Likes”.

In a future issue, I will be sharing some excellent videos relating to living overseas and purchasing real estate in another country.

We both feel extremely honored to have received so many messages, emails, and expressions of support. Believe me when I say, “We feel the love!” Thank you, everyone.

  The Week That Was

An exciting bit of news from Panama…

October 16th, the Panama government announced a new “Permanent Residency Program”.

The immediate financial opportunity for Panama is the attraction of the “Investor Tourists”. These are the potential property buyers who are putting boots on the ground as a critical part of investigating real estate investment opportunities.

Are you looking for a second residency? This new program may be what you are looking for.

Panama Law 159 established a new permanent residency program titled Permanent Residency for Economic Reasons. This new program is a subcategory of the Permanent Residency as a Qualified Investor Program.

Panama hopes to attract high net worth investors. With a minimum investment amount of $500k, the government is hoping to boost the country’s economy in the real estate and construction sectors.

It is no secret that the National Assembly wants to discontinue the popular Friendly Nations Visa Program. This parliamentary body is seeking investment money to boost the economy and help the country grow and prosper.

The program is being offered with the first time ever option that will allow investors to apply while being outside the country.

Services of a local lawyer are still required, and the entire process will be completed in Panama.

Buying a completed real estate units/projects or through the creation of contracts of promise to purchase, construct, and sell real estate units will qualify you for the program.

Your investment can be made through a licensed brokerage house approved by the government and/or investing in a fixed-term deposit in a local bank.

The financial contribution can be in an individual’s name or you may establish a legal entity with the applicant being the final beneficiary of the shares of the legal entity.

In a post-pandemic world, where do you want to be?

Panama is one of the easiest countries to get to from anywhere in the world. It is considered the best country to start a business. Offers one of the easiest, fastest, and friendliest residency programs in the world.

Yes, I am very bullish on Panama. Have been for more than seven years and expect to be for some time to come.
  The Week That Will Be

The main topic of news all around the world is the 2020 United States election.

This is the final week of campaigning, being bombarded with political ads, and never-ending useless media commentary.

Do not worry, this is not a political newsletter. We have no intention of promoting our ideas and beliefs towards either candidate. Any comments made, regarding a political party (or person), will only be made with respect to the financial impact on the economy.

Living overseas has taught us an important lesson… politics does not really matter in our daily living. That is politics in the U.S. and in the countries where we are permanent residents.

Diversification is the key to successful investing, asset protection, and living a quality life.

Our target is foreign markets and precious metals. Advice on how to protect your assets and increase your wealth.

  Living in Panama

Sunday, October 25th will be the easing of the final restrictions on the public being allowed to go out on Sundays and the beaches will be opened to people as long as they maintain a small social bubble.

Social distancing requires 2m distance between people. On the beaches, the family bubble will have to maintain a space of 4m between groups. Masks are not required within your bubble while eating, or during the time spent in the ocean.

With the ending of the Sunday quarantine on October 25th, comes the benefit of the Metro service on Sunday. Trains will operate from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

During the week, the Metro service runs from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.

All passengers are required to wear a mask. This measure is taken to combat the spread of Covid-19 on the Metro. Misuse, or failure to wear a mask, will result in a fine of $100 or $150. The Metro also issued a statement stating all passengers must try to remain silent during the trip while on the trains.

Church services are also available now on Sundays.

Interested In Travelling To Costa Rica?

With the approaching high tourism season, the Costa Rican government announced that as of October 22nd, it will eliminate the requirement for a negative Covid-19 test. This applies to all foreign visitors.

The air borders to Costa Rica will be opened to flights from all countries around the world on November 1st.

Visitors must have health insurance to cover infections caused by the pandemic.

*** For travelers arriving at PTY (Tocumen International Airport in Panama City), prior to continuing toward Costa Rica, a negative Covid-19 test is required by Panama.

Where Will We Be Going?

Nowhere in the immediate future. Neither of us is anxious to hop aboard an aircraft that is packed full of possible Covid-19 carrying passengers.

Sorry to report that it does not look like air travel will be a means of transportation for us anytime this year.

I am the poster child for “Be cautious of getting Covid-19”. Because of current (and previous) medical conditions, I am a walking example of someone at extremely high risk of becoming seriously ill or possibly dying.

Happy to be able to stay at home and work on projects around the house. However, Carolyn wants to go on a holiday to Panama City.

Watching the risk factors in the city. But we are looking forward to being able to get out and about. Need to see where investment opportunities are.

  Interested In Real Estate Opportunities?

An upcoming issue will highlight several opportunities.

Real estate investments can be an excellent opportunity to gain a second residency.

Currently, there are many great investment opportunities in Panama. The problem (if you want to see it that way) is there are so many that it is difficult to choose. The real problem is not being able to physically be here to inspect and assess the property.

The “best deals” are gone quickly. To be able to buy the unbelievable bargains, you need to be the first buyer present. Spectacular deals don’t last long.

It is also advisable to have the cash to complete the purchase immediately.

Having a “Plan B”

Thinking of a “Plan B”, and even planning a “Plan B” is useless. To have a “Plan B” you must have executed the plan.

During the pandemic, every country allowed its citizens to return home. Even in the midst of a countrywide lockdown.

We know of several expats that live and work in a foreign country. However, since they did not have permanent residency, or a passport, issued by that country, they were not allowed to return to their “I work here” country.

We recommend several permanent residencies. Strongly advise you to get a second passport, in addition to permanent resident status. While a second passport is of critical importance, remember your permanent resident cedula affords you the same access to many countries.

Most people overthink their “Plan B”. Stop doing that!

Doing something is not wrong, doing nothing is!

The first step is easy… go somewhere and apply for permanent residency.

Panama is one of the easiest countries to obtain the status you are longing for. It is one country we highly recommend for your first step.

Keep in mind that this is not a decision on where you must live for the rest of your life. It is a residency status that allows you to come and go as you please. Freedom to travel at will. Buy a one-way ticket, come stay as long (or short) as you want, and leave when you decide it is time to go on another adventure.  Permanent residents are treated the same as nationals.

Where do you want to go? What do you want to do? We are here to assist you.
